I was reading about Colleen Brockman's case today, and what stands out to me is just how vulnerable she was at such a young age. It's deeply troubling to think about a 15-year-old facing the harsh realities of life on the streets. Losing her life in such a violent way, and at the hands of someone as horrifying as Gary Ridgway, is beyond tragic. I can't imagine the anguish her father and brother must have felt, especially considering she was missing for so long before her remains were found. It must have been a nightmare filled with uncertainty and hope that she'd return safely one day. My thoughts go out to her family and all those other families affected by Ridgway’s heinous acts. It's a stark reminder of the dangers that exist and how important it is to protect and support our youth, especially those who are vulnerable.

I came across Colleen Renee Brockman's story while researching the Green River Killer, and it's just incredibly unsettling how young and vulnerable she was. I can't help but think about what she must have gone through being only 15 and away from home. Being a runaway on the streets is risky enough, and it's heartbreaking that she ultimately crossed paths with someone as dangerous as Gary Ridgway. I wonder what kind of efforts were made at the time to help at-risk youth like Colleen, who found themselves in such precarious situations. It's frustrating to think about all the systemic failures that might have allowed her to slip through the cracks. My heart goes out to her family, especially her father, who had to endure not only her disappearance but the horror of finding out what happened to her nearly two years later. It's such a tragic reminder of how society needs to do better in protecting its most vulnerable.
