Reading about Zurijeta Sakanovic's tragic death is just gut-wrenching, especially when you consider how she and her family came to the United States hoping to find peace and safety. I've been thinking a lot about the kind of person Donald Piper must have been, and what stood out to me was the tape used to bind Zurijeta's hands. It's so chilling that such a specific type of tape, not commonly sold in stores, was linked back to his profession. It really makes you wonder if that connection was what helped the authorities piece everything together. The fact that another victim's name was tied to his past patterns is equally unsettling. I can't even imagine the pain and fear Zurijeta's family must feel, having escaped their war-torn homeland only to face this unimaginable loss here. It's comforting to know that justice was served, but it doesn't erase the immense sorrow they must carry. Rest in peace, Zurijeta.
