I was reading about Wendy Aughe's case, and it really struck me how much technology has evolved since the late 80s. It’s mind-blowing to think that, back then, they couldn't make the definitive connections we can today with DNA. It seems like the re-examination in 2015 was the big break that the case needed. That brave team of detectives and forensic experts who never stopped looking for answers gave Wendy’s family a glimmer of hope, even though it took far too long. It’s comforting to know that Wendy's loved ones might finally get some sense of justice, even though nothing can replace their immense loss. This case really makes me wonder about the role of unresolved cases and how many others are still waiting for that similar piece of technology or evidence to come to light. I sincerely hope more families will be able to find some form of closure as technology keeps advancing. It makes one truly grateful for the relentless efforts of the people working behind the scenes.
