I've been thinking a lot about the role of foster care in Tammy and Tanya's case. It's absolutely tragic that these young girls felt the need to run away from their foster home. It makes me wonder what was going on in their lives that led them to make such a decision. The foster care system is supposed to be a safe haven for kids, but too often, it's not. We should really be asking ourselves if more could have been done to ensure they felt safe and supported. It breaks my heart to think that part of their vulnerability was tied to their circumstances, and something needs to change within the system. Tammy, Tanya, and others like them deserve better. My thoughts are with their families and everyone affected by this tragedy.
