I’ve been diving deep into the Golden Years Murders and am struck by the discrepancies in how the cases were handled back in the '90s. It’s tough not to feel for the families, especially when you consider the allegations about how the victims were treated differently by law enforcement based on race. Considering that Mamie Harris Verlander was one of the later victims, I wonder if the investigation into her tragic death could have uncovered something if handled with a more uniform dedication from the start. Can’t help but think about the systemic issues in these investigations. What a cruel injustice for Mamie and all the other victims. It’s awful to think that their families might never have closure. Anyone else feel like there’s a lot more beneath the surface here that got lost in the narrative over the years?
