Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about the tragic loss of young Daemon Francis and his family. I can't get over the ripple effect their murders must have had on the entire Santa Cruz community back in '73. When lives are taken so violently and unexpectedly, it leaves an undeniable scar on everyone involved, from friends and family to neighbors and even strangers who only heard the story through the news. My heart genuinely goes out to anyone who knew them and had to grapple with such a senseless tragedy. What’s been on my mind is the sheer randomness of how Mullin ended up choosing his victims. Kathy giving Mullin Gianera's address inadvertently set off a chain of brutal events nobody could have foreseen. It's chilling how fragile our sense of safety truly is and how one random moment can have such devastating consequences. Makes you think about all the “what ifs” that must have tormented those left behind. I'd love to hear any thoughts or insights you all might have. Have there been any recent developments or local retrospectives on how the community remembers and deals with the aftermath of such a terrible event? Stay safe out there, everyone.
