I can't stop thinking about the moment when Sandy's family confronted Muehlberg in court. It must have taken incredible strength for them to stand there, face-to-face with the man who brought so much pain into their lives. Geneva's words have stuck with me: "Regardless of the path she was on at that time, she didn't deserve to die." Too often, society forgets the humanity of the victims, reducing them to simply "at-risk" or "troubled." But Sandy was a sister, a daughter, and a mother. Her son, now grown, had to navigate life without her guiding presence, which is so hard to even imagine. It's clear that the ripples of loss from Sandy's murder are wide and still felt deeply today. Has anyone else followed how DNA technology is shaping cold cases like Sandy's? It's astounding how, even after all these years, justice can find a way.
Has anyone else been thinking about the sheer courage it must have taken for Sandy's family to face Gary Muehlberg in court? I can't even begin to imagine the emotional turmoil they’ve had to endure all these years, not knowing what happened to Sandy and then finally confronting her killer decades later. Geneva Valle-Palomino's words really struck a chord with me. The strength it must have taken to speak out and remind everyone that Sandy didn't deserve what happened to her is truly admirable. It's a testament to their resilience and love for her. And thinking about Sandy’s son, growing up without knowing his mom, it’s just so sad. I really hope they find peace and closure now that Muehlberg has been brought to justice. Peace for Sandy and strength for those she left behind.
