It's so sad to hear about the tragedy involving Timothy G. Williams II and Delanio Vick. I can't imagine what their families must be going through right now. I’ve been thinking a lot about public safety measures at places like ODU and how these tragic events highlight the urgency for more proactive safety protocols. As someone who used to spend time on campuses like ODU, I know how they should feel like safe havens. It's shocking and unsettling that something this horrific could happen in such a familiar place.
The fact that neither victim was affiliated with the university makes me wonder if they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. The university is doing the right thing by making counseling available to students—they definitely need all the support they can get right now to process something so traumatic. Hopefully, authorities will identify someone responsible soon and provide some answers. My thoughts are with everyone affected, especially the friends and family of Timothy and Delanio. No one should ever have to go through something so tragic as losing a loved one this way.
Timothy and Delanio weren't even part of the ODU community, yet their lives ended so tragically on that campus. It makes you wonder about the circumstances that led them there that night. Were they meeting someone? Just passing through? It’s hard to process how quickly lives can be upended by senseless violence. I really feel for their families and friends during this unimaginable time. I saw some people mentioning a woman who was hysterically screaming over one of the bodies. She must have been someone close to one of them—can you imagine the shock and pain she must have been going through in those moments? It just haunts me to think about it. Hopefully, the investigation will shed some light on why this happened and bring a bit of peace to those who are mourning. Stay safe, everyone, and let's hold the victims' families in our thoughts.
