I'm deeply disturbed by the senseless tragedy that occurred in Milwaukee with the death of Makai Kenith Neal. What's been keeping me awake is thinking about why some people act so recklessly when angered. It's haunting to think that a young life could be ended over something like an argument over a stolen firearm. Makai was just 15 and had his whole life ahead of him—dreams of playing college football and perhaps inspiring others with his leadership. That potential was stolen, and for what? I can't imagine the pain his family is going through, knowing their son was not only taken from them so violently but that his final moments were filled with such terror and betrayal. It's utterly devastating. Makes me wonder about the circles these young men got themselves into and why they felt that lethal violence was an acceptable resolution. We often talk about the need for more community support and better conflict resolution outreach, and now more than ever, it's clear we need to act on these discussions. We need to find ways to break these cycles that lead to such tragic outcomes. My heart goes out to Makai’s family and friends. Let's hope the trial brings some sense of justice.

Has anyone else been following the case of Makai Kenith Neal? I can't stop thinking about the impact this tragedy must have had on his community. Amidst all the discussion about the horrific crime, I’ve been reflecting on how Makai was seen by those who knew and loved him. It's truly moving to hear how he was so much more than just a promising athlete; he was a beacon of positivity and hope for those around him. My heart goes out to his youth football coach and teammates. I imagine how devastating it must be to lose someone who was not only skilled on the field but also a natural leader among peers. The tribute at his vigil just shows the powerful impression Makai left on everyone in his life. I hope justice is served swiftly, but I also hope that as a community, we can come together to support Makai’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. It's imperative that we keep his memory alive and continue to push for a safer environment for our youth. ?
