I've been following David Hursell's case for a while now, and something that's always puzzled me is how Robert Comer ended up with Hursell's truck so soon after his disappearance. It's odd that such a damning piece of evidence wasn't enough to solve the case back in the day. Given that Comer was driving the truck, it seems like there would have been more immediate pressure to connect the dots back then. It's frustrating that even with his confession, there's still no physical evidence tying up the loose ends. Does anyone know if Comer's truck possession was ever fully explored in court, or why, despite his confession, it wasn’t enough to recover the remains or reach a more conclusive resolution?
Has anyone else been following the twists in the David Robert Hursell case? I was doing some reading and stumbled across the part where Comer's arrest happened right after Hursell went missing, and he was in Hursell’s truck. I'm puzzled why that wasn't enough to solve the case back then. I understand evidence can be tricky, especially without a body, but having the suspect in the victim's vehicle seems pretty significant. Does anyone here with a law enforcement background know why this might not lead to a solved case, even when combined with Comer's later confession? Trying to piece this together—it just doesn't add up for me.
Has anyone else read about the case of David Robert Hursell? I recently came across his story and was struck by the timeline of events. It's puzzling that even after Robert Charles Comer confessed with such detail, leading authorities to a potential burial site, no remains were found. This makes me wonder if Comer might have misled investigators about the location, either deliberately or because he genuinely forgot. With the confession alone, it's baffling how the case is still open. Does anyone here have insights or theories on why the search in 2001 turned up empty? Could there be other areas that should be investigated in El Dorado County? It's so frustrating to think about Hursell’s family, still holding on to hope after all these years.
