Has anyone else come across anything about the weather conditions on November 3, 1988, around Chico or Oroville? I was scrolling through the old newspaper archives, and it seems there was a pretty intense storm around that time. I'm starting to wonder if something weather-related might be a clue to what happened to Judy Eileen Smith. It could have affected her travel plans or maybe even impacted any potential search efforts immediately after she went missing. I know it's kind of a stretch, but with cases this old, maybe every little detail counts. Has anyone found references to how the weather conditions impacted travel or communications in the area back then?
I recently stumbled across Judy Eileen Smith's case again, and something keeps bugging me about the necklace she was wearing. The gold necklace with the letter "J" is such a personal piece—wouldn't someone in her life recognize it if it were found? It makes me wonder about pawn shops or even random sales. Has there ever been any follow-up on checking those places, especially around the time when she disappeared? Jewelry can have a way of resurfacing, and it might be a lead worth revisiting. I just feel like this personal touch could point to something crucial. Thoughts?
Did anyone else notice the detail about Judy's watch and necklace? The necklace with the letter "J" and the gold Timex watch are pretty specific items. I wonder if anyone's looked into whether those might have been pawned or sold anywhere around the time she disappeared. Also, leaving all her personal stuff behind seems really out of character, based on what her roommate mentioned. If she was planning to head to Oroville or Quincy, it's odd that she wouldn't take anything with her. It makes me question if she left on her own accord. Has there ever been any organized search or outreach focused specifically in pawnshops or second-hand stores in the area? Maybe those personal items could provide a lead or a clue about her disappearance.
