I stumbled across this case while reading through the forum, and it just hit me how incredibly random and senseless this tragic event was. I've been haunted by the thought of Derrick "Dee" Higgins losing his life over someone else's conflict. I've read that Derrick wasn't even a part of the altercation that night. It's truly unsettling to think that he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I can’t help but think about his family and friends who are grappling with such a tremendous loss. It's clear that Derrick was greatly loved and respected by those who knew him, which must make this even harder to process. Has anyone heard if there’s a community effort or memorial in the works to honor Derrick’s memory? I feel like it’s important we remember him for the vibrant and joyful life he led rather than the awful circumstance in which it ended. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this. It’s just another reminder of how precious and unpredictable life can be.
