It's been quite some time since the tragic event that took Marquis Johnson from his family and friends. When I think about the case, I can’t help but wonder about the neighborhood where the attempted home invasion occurred. It's sometimes easy to overlook how important a community's environment can be in these situations. Was this area known for such incidents? How have things changed since that terrible day in April 2017? A lot of us tend to think about the crime itself, but I find myself thinking about the people who lived nearby, too. Did they know Marquis? How are they coping after such a traumatic event in their backyard? Marquis’s loved ones and the neighbors all deserve to feel safe and supported. We can only hope that those affected have found some sense of peace or support, even as we continue to seek justice for Marquis. I hope if anyone has more information about how the community has been doing, they might share it here. It's important to remember all the lives touched by these awful events.
