I've been following this case and can't stop thinking about the impact on Rita's family, especially her four kids. Losing a mother in such a tragic way is something no child should have to endure. It's horrific to imagine them trying to make sense of everything and going forward without her. Her job as a correction officer must have required immense strength and dedication, which I'm sure she also put into being a parent. It seems that this tragic event has left a void not only in her family but also in the community she was part of. I hope the fundraiser organized by her mother, Rita Collins, provides some relief and support to her children during this unimaginably difficult time. It's moments like these that make you wish you could do more to help those left behind.
