I just can’t stop thinking about the absolute senselessness of Danyelisse’s death. It’s hard to think about how quickly life can change; one moment she’s inside a house, and the next, a stray bullet changes everything. She was just weeks away from starting her firefighter training, ready to step into a career of saving people’s lives, and now this happens. Her community, especially her classmates at East High, must be shattered. I can’t even imagine what her family is going through, and my heart goes out to all of them. It’s a tragic reminder of how gun violence doesn’t just affect those involved directly. It can reach into homes and take lives without warning. It makes me wonder what more we can do as a society to prevent tragedies like this. Looking at the fundraising efforts and support from her school community, it’s clear Danyelisse touched many lives. She should be remembered for her dreams and kindness. If anyone in Rochester has video or info, I hope they step forward to help bring justice for her and her family.

I can't stop thinking about the moment Danyelisse was shot. Her family must be going through so much right now. It’s absolutely infuriating that she was just inside, minding her own business, and this happened. It's really hard to wrap my head around the fact that someone so young and full of potential had her life ended in such a senseless way. My heart goes out to the students and staff at East High School. The whole community is facing such a difficult time, and I think it speaks volumes about how beloved Danyelisse was that everyone is rallying together to help her family with the funeral costs. I hope they’re able to find some comfort in the support from the community. I’m keeping a close watch on how the investigation progresses. I really hope that justice is served and that more is done to prevent these tragedies from happening again. Gun violence needs urgent attention—it’s claiming too many bright futures.
