It's so deeply unsettling to see how the issue of firearm access played a role in this devastating incident. I can't help but wonder about the system that's supposed to safeguard us, particularly when it comes to revoking firearm licenses. From what I've read, Simmons' FOID card was revoked, yet he still managed to keep hold of that weapon. It raises so many questions about the effectiveness and enforcement of these revocations. Were there missed opportunities to prevent this tragedy? My heart aches for Trina, Chelsea, and young Armoni, whose lives were cut short due to such violence. I can't even imagine the sorrow their families and friends are going through. Attending the vigil must have been incredibly emotional, but it's also comforting to know the community is rallying together to remember them. Times like these remind us of the importance of checking in on our systems and each other.
