Has anyone else been following the details about Sammy Jackson's murder case? I’ve been thinking a lot about how terrifying it must have been for his wife, Jill, to get that strange text asking for his Social Security number. It just feels so eerie and out of place, especially since Sammy was always described as a sharp and cautious person. It must have been alarming for her right from the start, and my heart goes out to her and their family having to deal with such an immediate fear and the unfolding tragedy that followed. It seems like some kind of setup or scam gone wrong, but it’s hard to parse out what was really going on with so few details still. Hello everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about the ripple effect of Sammy Jackson's tragic death on the basketball community. Having such an influential figure from our coaching ranks taken in such a violent manner is jarring, to say the least. Many of us who followed his career remember the passion he brought to the game and his dedication to mentoring young athletes. I had the privilege of attending a clinic once where he spoke, and his insights were invaluable—not just about basketball tactics but about life. It breaks my heart to think that someone who gave so much to help young people could meet such a senseless end. I can only imagine the void his absence leaves in the lives of those he coached and inspired. His legacy, though, will undoubtedly endure. If anyone has been in touch with former players or colleagues who were close to Coach Jackson, it would be great to hear how they’re planning to honor his memory. Perhaps his impact could be celebrated with a scholarship for aspiring coaches or players? Let’s keep his spirit alive and ensure his contributions to our community aren't forgotten.
