Does anyone else find it intriguing how Nemoto sold most of her belongings, including personal items, right before she left Michigan? It makes me wonder if she was trying to make a clean break from her life there. These actions seem pretty drastic for someone who was so close to earning their degree. It almost feels like she had a bigger plan, one that didn’t involve going back to her past. Maybe she saw something in Alaska that was part of that plan, or maybe she just wanted to start fresh somewhere completely new. Either way, it feels like there was more going on in her mind than just disappointment over a bad grade. What do you think? Could there be more clues in the things she chose to let go of?
