I’ve been thinking a lot about the response of the community to Elijah Keyandre Bates' death. It’s been laying heavily on my mind. It must be incredibly difficult for his friends and family to handle the way his life was ripped away, seemingly without any reason. The community in the Mission District must be feeling shaken, too. It seems like there’s such a strong sense of neighborhood there, and this kind of violence shakes everyone to their core. I’m curious if anyone's heard any updates about community efforts to support Elijah's loved ones or initiatives to increase safety in the area? Often in times of tragedy, neighborhoods come together in incredible ways, and it would be comforting to know if there's any activity in place to help everyone move forward safely. Thoughts and insights welcome. Let's keep his memory alive and support each other.
