I've been thinking a lot about the ripple effect that this case has had on so many lives, especially the children involved. It’s just unimaginable what Rosalyn went through. I can't help but wonder about her life now, growing up with the knowledge of what happened to her mom and brother at the hands of her own father. Losing a mother is already devastating, but to know it was your father who took that away must be unbearable. I hope she’s found a support system that helps her process and heal from this nightmare. No child should ever have to live through something so traumatic. Sending all my love and prayers to her and anyone else affected by this case.

Did anyone else feel completely chilled reading about the tragic sequence of events that led to Lashann Matthews’ murder? As someone who follows these cases, I often find myself wondering about the systems in place that could have prevented such a horrible loss of life. Eric Matthews had a known violent history - including murders in Indiana before he even met Lashann. How did he manage to evade law enforcement for so long after fleeing Indiana, and why was he not under closer scrutiny when he moved to Louisiana? It's absolutely devastating that this man continued his violent streak unchecked, leading to the loss of such a young woman and her child. My heart truly goes out to Lashann’s family and friends, who must grapple with the knowledge of how her life was so violently taken from her. Also, there are still so many questions surrounding what could have been done to potentially save her, and others, from his wrath. Would greater inter-state communication about his movements have made a difference? Would love to hear thoughts if anyone has any insights into what systems were (or weren't) in place at the time.
