I've been reading up on the tragic case of Pearl Weiss and the other victims connected to "The Dawn Strangler." I keep thinking about the significance of Pearl's missing shoes. It's chilling to imagine the final moments she endured and the possibility that the shoes were taken as a sort of trophy or perhaps to minimize evidence like footprints. The idea that someone would intentionally leave them out of the crime scene adds another layer to this already painful mystery. I can’t imagine what her family and the families of Mae and Lottie have been through, knowing their loved ones might have been targeted by a predator who viewed their lives and symbols of their identity with such disregard.
It's especially eerie thinking back to the control this individual sought over these women and how they chose to leave such deliberate traces. What do others here think? Is there significance to this, or could it have been something entirely practical or incidental? Sending thoughts to the families still affected by these crimes.
