Has anyone else looked into how Frank Welzbacher's case was influenced by the lack of immediate murder charges against Lamont? It's incredibly frustrating to think that, for so long, Lamont was only jailed on federal kidnapping charges despite the heartbreak he caused to so many families. The legal limbo must have been excruciating for the families waiting for true justice.
I'm particularly curious about the slow pace of charges in the 70s—why did it take more than four decades to finally see murder charges brought against him? Why were the courts unable to move faster, especially since Lamont had such an extensive criminal history across multiple states? It leaves me to ponder how many other cases may have stalled similarly, leaving victims and their loved ones in agony while awaiting justice.
Thinking of Frank’s family, it must’ve been a rollercoaster of emotions when Lamont eventually faced murder charges and received a life sentence. They demonstrated such endurance and resilience through those decades of uncertainty. I hope they found some semblance of peace knowing that Lamont will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
