I came across this case recently and my heart goes out to the Som family. It's been over a decade, and I can't imagine the pain of not having closure. I wonder if there could be a connection with any other unsolved cases in the area from that time. Sacramento had a few violent incidents around then, and perhaps there's a pattern or link that's been overlooked. Sometimes, these cases get a fresh lead when people connect the dots. It’s frustrating when it feels like witnesses might be out there but are afraid to come forward. If anyone reading this remembers anything or knows someone who might've been there that night, please don't keep silent. Even the smallest piece of information could make a massive difference. I've read a bit about other cases where new tips have brought breakthroughs. I hope that's the case here. Som’s family and friends deserve to see justice served.
I just can't get over the horror of what happened to Vanthoeun Som. Being viciously attacked with a machete is beyond comprehension. It's terrifying to think that his friends witnessed such a brutal event and still carry those physical and emotional scars. I've been following the case for a while, and every time I pass by that intersection on 15th and K Streets, I'm reminded of the pain his family must be feeling. How can something so horrible happen, and yet we still have no answers? My heart goes out to his little one growing up without a father. It makes me think about how important it is to come forward if you know anything—someone out there must have seen or heard something that night. Please, if you have any information, consider reaching out to the Sacramento Police. It could finally give some peace to those who loved him.
