Has anyone else been struck by the bravery of that surviving victim who managed to escape from Ray Shawn Jackson? I can't even imagine the strength it must have taken to endure such a horrifying experience and then come forward to help identify him. Her courage not only ended a reign of terror that could have continued but also brought justice for Annette Stewart and the other victims. We owe that woman so much gratitude for her role in capturing Jackson and preventing any further loss of life. I'm also thinking about how this whole case broke open because of her and a random passerby's keen eye—really makes you realize how crucial a community can be in solving cases like these. It's a poignant reminder of how we all play a part in keeping our communities safe.

I’ve been thinking about the role of Gillham Park in these tragic cases. It's chilling to realize how a place meant for community and relaxation became the backdrop for such terrifying acts. I can’t imagine how Annette Stewart’s family must feel, knowing she was the first among several women brutally taken away from them in this way. It makes you wonder about the environments we assume to be safe. How often do we really think about the places we frequent and their potential dangers? The community must have felt so much fear during that time. I'm relieved for the families that justice was served, but it’s a stark reminder of how quickly one's sense of security can be shattered. My heart goes out to all the families who had to endure these devastating losses. How do you even begin to move forward while coping with such a violent reality in your backyard?
