I've been following the case of Jessie James Spencer Jr. and some of the others attributed to Elton Manning Jackson, and I can't shake the thought of how vulnerable certain groups are made to feel in society. Imagine living in constant fear just because of who you are or where life has taken you. It's a nightmare. The details about Spencer being found on Jolliff Road keep bothering me. It's not just any location—it's isolated, removed from everything. The choice of location seems so symbolic of how people with transient lifestyles can be out of sight, out of mind for many, until something horrific happens. I don't want to speak for others, but I hope the local community has been able to come together and support each other after such a terrifying period. I often think about Spencer's family and the pain of losing someone in such a brutal way. I can't even imagine the impact this would have on their lives. I hope they have found some peace and that the memory of Jessie and the other victims can remind us all of the work that still needs to be done to protect our most vulnerable neighbors.
