I recently stumbled upon Steven Elliott's case while doing some research into unsolved murders from the 1980s, and it's been on my mind ever since. One thing that truly gives me pause is the courage it must have taken for Steven to come out back in 1979. At that time, the world wasn't as accepting, and he faced challenges I can't even imagine. It's heartbreaking that his life was cut short in such a violent manner.
Being part of a marginalized community, it seems like Steven and others like him were particularly vulnerable, and it breaks my heart to think they might have been targeted because of this. I hope that one day, anyone involved in these horrific crimes is brought to justice, even if it's just to bring some peace to the families who've suffered for so long. My thoughts are with those who knew and loved Steven. He deserved better, and I'll continue to hold hope for answers.
I've been revisiting some old cases and stumbled across the story of Steven Lynn Elliott. I can't stop thinking about how distinct his life was, especially his journey after coming out. It's just devastating to think about someone bravely living their truth, only to have their life ended in such a horrific way. It’s easy to forget that behind these cases are real people, not just victims, but individuals with histories, families, and stories. Steven's journey highlighted some of the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals during that era—it's infuriating that his life choices were met with such cruelty. For those who are familiar with his story or the I-70 Strangler case, have there been any updates or new leads that we should be aware of? I just hope there's still a path towards justice for him and the others.
