Deling Sun was 29 when she disappeared from San Gabriel on July 30, 2003. She was last seen about 9:45 p.m. in a parking lot at Valley Boulevard and New Avenue, driving a white 2003 Nissan Sentra without license plates. Months later the Sentra turned up abandoned at the Tom Bradley Terminal at Los Angeles International Airport; investigators reported significant forensic evidence inside the vehicle but no sign of Deling.

In January 2004 detectives identified two potential witnesses, Jin Hong Ji and Jiawei Gao, both described as being of Chinese descent and in their late 30s at that time. The family hired a private investigator who believed Deling may have been abducted and that multiple people could have been involved. The case moved from the Glendora Police Department to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and remains unsolved.

Anyone who knew Deling, saw her white Sentra in late July 2003, or has information about Jin Hong Ji or Jiawei Gao is asked to come forward with tips.
