Has anyone else been thinking about the medical school angle in the Julia Smythe Conner case? It's deeply unsettling to think her skeleton was sold to a medical institution. I wonder if there were any records or ethics discussions at Hahneman Medical School once Holmes' crimes came to light. How did the school acquire bodies for study back then, and were there any checks and balances to ensure they weren't obtained through foul means? It's disturbing to think that a victim could go from being a person with loved ones to just a "specimen" on a table. My heart goes out to Julia and her family—what a deeply dehumanizing end to such a tragic event.
