I’ve been following the case of Michael A. Whisnant and Henry Eugene Hodges, and something that stands out to me is the sheer impact on the LGBTQ+ community during that era. It’s terrifying to think about how vulnerable certain individuals were, simply due to who they were. Michael’s life was tragically cut short by Hodges, and it serves as a grim reminder of how much work there still was—and continues to be—in protecting vulnerable communities. The fact that Hodges targeted gay bars paints a chilling picture of how calculated his actions were. I really feel for Michael’s friends and family, who had to live through such a terrifying period and then deal with such a profound loss. Hoping they’ve found some degree of peace and healing over the years. Anyone else have thoughts on how cases like this have shaped safety measures or awareness in vulnerable communities since then?
