It's hard to wrap my mind around Lisa Michele Smith's case. The part that really struck me was the discrepancy in her age estimation by the hospital staff. They thought she was around 21, but she was just 17 when she went missing. This could have had a huge impact on how the case was handled. Mistaken age might have influenced how seriously the authorities pursued certain leads or even how they handled her treatment at the hospital. It's so frustrating to think that she might've not received the right kind of help because of an age misjudgment. Has anyone looked into the procedures hospitals and police followed back then when dealing with runaways or missing persons? I really hope her family finds closure someday.
