I’ve been following Cheryl Dunlap’s case closely and something that's been on my mind is the role technology played in catching her murderer. It’s chilling yet fascinating how surveillance footage essentially put a face to a description that seemed almost ghostly with all the mentions of a “peculiar homeless man.” The fact that Hilton was seen using Cheryl’s ATM card and the connection made thereafter really emphasizes how crucial these technological eyes are. It’s painful to think of Cheryl’s family enduring those days of uncertainty, and one can only hope they’ve found some comfort knowing justice was ultimately served. It’s a reminder of how every bit of information and every tool available can piece together answers, even in the seemingly smallest actions like using an ATM. It's a comfort to know technology helps keep communities safer, but it’s heartbreaking realizing how unsafe the world can be. Sending strength and prayers to Cheryl's loved ones.
