I've been thinking a lot about the tragic loss of the Sorenson children after reading more into the Belle Gunness case. It's unimaginable what those poor kids went through. Lucy, Myrtle, and little Philip... Their lives were stolen away so cruelly. I can't even begin to fathom the pain their surviving family members experienced during that time. It must have been horrific to learn about the fire and then uncover all the darker truths about what really happened on that farm. There's something that keeps nagging at me, though. Do you all think Belle Gunness ever showed any genuine affection for the children in her care? Or were they just part of her facade from the start? It's so disturbing to realize she might have seen them merely as pawns in her twisted schemes. I hope, wherever they are, that Lucy, Myrtle, and Philip are at peace now. They deserved so much better.
