I've been following the case of Victor "Bunk" Travis and Ray Burgess for a while, and something that always sticks with me is how family and loved ones never got closure. I can't imagine the pain of not knowing what happened to someone you care about. With Burgess having connections to the Chicago mob and using a false identity, it adds so many layers to the mystery. It makes me wonder if their disappearance was planned or just a tragic coincidence. The fact that their car was never found baffles me. In areas like Wisconsin, where there's so much wilderness, it's like they vanished off the face of the earth. Does anyone else think there may have been more people involved than just Burgess? It seems like there's more under the surface. It’s a cold case that definitely deserves more attention. Would love to hear others’ thoughts on this angle.
Hey everyone,
I've been digging through some archives and stumbled across an intriguing detail about Victor "Bunk" Travis. From what I gather, he was quite the outdoorsman, with a great love for the Wisconsin wilderness, which makes his vanishing even more puzzling. I've been wondering if his experience in the woods might have played a role in how the situation unfolded. Was he really caught off guard, or is it possible he led Ray into deeper paths to avoid some kind of a trap?
With the area being so vast and wooded, this seems like a significant challenge for any search and rescue teams back then. If only they had today's technology! It's gut-wrenching to imagine how his family must have felt searching those woods, day after day, clinging to hope. If anyone has more details on the geography of the search areas or any local lore about those woods, I’d love to piece together more of this puzzle. Sending thoughts to the families as always.
