I’ve been reading more about the aftermath of John Wayne Gacy’s crimes, and it’s incredibly distressing to think about the community’s response to learning what happened and how many families were shattered. Tommy Joe Boling’s story really hits hard because he had a young child and was starting a family when everything was stolen from him. It makes you think about all the futures lost to Gacy’s actions. It’s baffling how he lived a seemingly normal public life, even participating as 'Pogo the Clown.'
Gacy’s manipulation and the facade he put up make it even more chilling. You can’t help but feel deeply for Tommy’s family, especially knowing that he was facing his own struggles at the time. To think his family had to wait almost two years to learn what happened to him is just beyond comprehension. It’s important we remember Tommy not just as a victim, but as a young man with loved ones who were left to pick up the pieces. The resilience of these families and communities in the face of such horror is something I think about a lot. How do you even begin to heal from something like that?
Hey everyone, I've been thinking about Tommy Joe Boling and the tragedy of his short life. One aspect that really tugs at my heart is the impact this must have had on his young son, who was just three years old at the time of Tommy's death. The thought of growing up without a father, especially under such horrific circumstances, is deeply upsetting. I wonder what kind of support systems were in place for families like his in the aftermath of such an ordeal. It's a sobering reminder of the pain that Gacy's victims’ families must have endured, piecing together their lives after losing a loved one in such a brutal way. My thoughts are with them and all the families affected by Gacy's heinous acts.
I can't stop thinking about how young Tommy Joe Boling was when he was taken from this world. Only 20 years old, with a wife and a little boy who must have missed their dad every single day. It's so incredibly saddening to imagine what his family went through during that time. I think about his sister too, revealing how he was using drugs back then. Some may judge, but it's so important to remember that everyone has their struggles and it doesn't make them any less deserving of justice or compassion.
And to think about how his final resting place ended up being in that horrific crawl space, dehumanized and just a number amidst countless others. It really hits you how brutal and senseless it all was. I hope his family found some piece of closure when he was identified, though I can't imagine that kind of pain ever truly going away. Tommy's story, just like the others, deserves to be remembered, with empathy and respect for all they went through.
