I’ve been thinking a lot about the timing of how McCoy’s body was identified. It's mind-blowing that it took 14 years from the time he vanished for his remains to be identified and returned to his grieving family. I can't even begin to fathom the agony his loved ones must have endured all those years, not knowing what happened to him. Can you imagine the relief mixed with sorrow when they finally got the news? It's a small comfort, but at least they were able to lay him to rest properly. This case really highlights the struggles families face when a loved one goes missing—in McCoy’s case, lingering in uncertainty for years. It also makes me wonder how many other families out there are desperate for closure in similar situations. The effects of these heinous crimes ripple far beyond the immediate victims.

I recently came across Timothy Jack McCoy's case again, and it got me thinking about how young and full of potential he was when his life was tragically cut short by John Wayne Gacy. At just 16, Timothy had his entire life ahead of him, with dreams and aspirations that he never got to fulfill. It must have been devastating for his family to spend years not knowing his fate until his remains were finally identified in 1986. What's particularly chilling to me is how a simple decision — like waiting for a connecting bus — led him to cross paths with such a dangerous individual. It's a stark reminder of how random and cruel life can be. My heart goes out to Timothy's family, who must have lived with the uncertainty and pain for so long. It’s unimaginable what they went through. Seeing someone so young become a victim in such a senseless way is both infuriating and deeply saddening. Stay safe everyone, and let's keep Timothy's memory alive by remembering the wonderful potential that was taken away far too soon.
