I’ve been following Jeremiah Johnson’s case since it happened, and it’s such a disturbing and senseless loss. One thing that really stands out to me is how justice can sometimes feel so unattainable. Even though Zackery Cody Franklin eventually pleaded guilty, I can't imagine the frustration and pain Jeremiah’s family went through during the lengthy legal process.
It makes me think about the emotional toll these delays and dropped charges must have on a victim’s loved ones. Jeremiah was robbed of his life, and his family was robbed of closure for so long. I really hope they’re finding some peace and support through all this. Also, it's mind-boggling that Franklin was already serving such an enormous sentence, and yet he still chose to commit such ruthless acts. It's terrifying to think about the kind of mindset someone must have to be so unrelenting in their violence.
My thoughts go out to the Johnson family. They’ve been through more heartbreak than anyone should have to endure. Anyone else who followed this case have thoughts on how the justice system handles situations with suspects already serving time?
Did anyone else notice how long it took for this case to get somewhat resolved? It's baffling to me that it took over four years to identify suspects for Jeremiah Johnson's murder. I can't even begin to imagine what that wait must have been like for his family and friends, not to mention the frustration of dealing with the slow pace of justice.
Jeremiah's father had to live through all that with so many unanswered questions, and then eventually confront one of the suspects in court. It must take incredible strength to stand there and speak directly to the person responsible for such a devastating loss. It’s sad that they had to wait years to finally have some closure. I hope Jeremiah's family has found some peace now, although I know it can't ever truly fill the void left by their loved one.
