I've been reading about the Grace Budd case, and I can't help but feel a deep sympathy for her family, especially for her mother, Delia Budd. I recently came across discussions about the anonymous letter Fish sent her, and it's beyond comprehension how a mother could endure such torment. That letter seemed to add layers of grief to an already unbearable situation. It's hard to imagine the lasting impact this had on the Budd family and the community. It's a painful reminder of the unexpected cruelty that exists in the world. Something that strikes me is the sheer resilience Delia and her family must have had to face the trial and the public attention it brought. My thoughts are with them as they navigated through such unimaginable sorrow.
While the focus often falls on the grim details of Grace Budd's tragic end, I can't stop thinking about her family and the unimaginable pain they endured. The sheer audacity of Albert Fish to send that letter to Grace's mother, four whole years after the heinous act, is beyond cruel. Delia Budd must have been in a state of constant torment, holding onto any semblance of hope for her missing daughter, only to be shattered by Fish’s horrific confession. It's unfathomable to contemplate how they coped with such unending anguish and uncertainty, not knowing what happened to their beloved Grace until that awful letter arrived. Their strength and resilience in the face of such evil is something I deeply admire. They deserve every bit of support and compassion from the community, then and now.
