I've been reading a lot about the tragic case of John 'JJ' Johnson's murder, and my heart goes out to his family and friends. I can't even imagine the anguish they must have felt, not knowing his fate for so many weeks. What strikes me is how the places were chosen. The field near Lowell, Indiana, where JJ's body was found, really speaks to Eyler’s methodology. It’s chilling how calculated he was—picking such remote sites, thinking he could hide his horrible crimes by placing them in desolate areas. It's beyond upsetting to think of JJ crossing paths with Eyler on that fateful night. The sheer randomness of it all is terrifying. Although Eyler was never convicted for JJ’s murder, it’s at least some small solace that justice was served in other cases, and he didn’t receive the freedom he had taken from so many. Justice is a strange thing—always seeming just out of reach for some, even when the truth is known. I hope even with all the time that has passed, those who knew and loved JJ find some semblance of peace. These stories never really leave us, but remembering the victims helps keep their memories alive in our hearts.
