I was reading up on the tragic case of Willie Mae Thurmond and couldn't help but think about how little attention is often given to cases like these when they involve infants. It's deeply unsettling to realize that Willie Mae, just a 26-day-old baby, was part of such a sinister pattern that wouldn't be uncovered for over two decades. What's even more troubling is the idea that Willie Mae's death was initially chalked up to natural causes, with no one suspecting a thing at the time. It makes me wonder how many other potential victims in similar situations might have been overlooked simply because they were too young to have a voice or raise alarm. The impact on her family, especially if they had no inkling of what was truly happening, must have been devastating. It's such a stark reminder of how important it is to be vigilant and advocate for those who can't speak for themselves, even if it sometimes means revisiting and questioning historical conclusions. My heart goes out to anyone who might have known the truth all along but felt silenced.
