I’ve been deeply engrossed in the Paul Durousseau case, and what stands out to me is how he used his job as a taxi driver to get close to his victims. The thought that Nicole L. Williams, and others like her, might have trusted him because of his job just breaks my heart. They likely saw a taxi as a safe space, a way to get from point A to B safely. It's a chilling reminder of how predators can be hiding in plain sight, exploiting positions we are conditioned to trust. I truly feel for Nicole’s family and all the other victims. No one should ever go through this kind of loss. I wonder how we might better protect vulnerable individuals, especially young women, so no family has to endure such pain again.
