I've been reading about Frederick Capin's case, and something that stands out is the tragic impact of social stigma on justice. It's so disheartening to think about the fear that likely held back the survivors from coming forward. In the 1970s, being openly gay could mean risking your job, family acceptance, or personal safety. It's understandable, but so tragic, that this fear gave the Doodler a shield from being caught. It sounds like many of these victims might have found themselves in a situation where they were completely alone in their experiences. I can't help but wonder how different things might have been if society had been more accepting back then. My heart truly goes out to the victims, their families, and the survivors who may still be haunted by what happened. I hope that with today's more inclusive environment and advanced technology, there's still a chance to find justice for Frederick Capin and the other victims.
