I just came across some old news articles about Jamillah Jones, and it's utterly devastating thinking about what happened to her and the other victims of Jerome Dennis. My heart goes out to their families who have had to carry such a heavy burden all these years. I can't imagine the fear that must have gripped the community during those months when Dennis was on the loose. What haunts me is the thought of how close Jamillah was to making it home safely that night. It’s infuriating to think about how she did everything right, yet still fell victim to such senseless violence. It's important that we continue to remember Jamillah and the others, not just as victims, but as people whose lives were unfairly and tragically cut short. How's the community doing now, so many years later? Do they have any memorials or events to honor those who were lost during those dark times? I feel like keeping their memories alive is crucial.
