Hey everyone,
I've been diving deep into the timeline of Cottingham's crimes, and I find it so chilling how he managed to evade capture for as long as he did. One thing that really stood out to me was the unfortunate reality of the 1980s—communication between police departments was nowhere near as efficient as it is now. This lack of information sharing obviously made it so much tougher to connect the dots between his murders in New York and New Jersey.
It's incredibly sad to think that if these systems were in place back then, lives like Jean Reyner's might have been saved. I've read that some of the investigators involved have spent years haunted by these cases, tirelessly working to bring justice to the victims and peace to their families. Their dedication deserves so much respect.
Anyone else feel like this case highlights some vital lessons learned in law enforcement practices?
