Does anyone else feel absolutely infuriated when thinking about how the system failed Renae and her family? It just boggles my mind that someone with Campbell’s history was given the chance to be out on work release, especially when his record showed repeated disciplinary infractions. I can’t begin to imagine how terrifying it must have been for Renae knowing that the man who attacked her years before was allowed even a semblance of freedom. It seems like an unconscionable oversight, and unfortunately, it cost three innocent lives. My heart goes out to the loved ones who have to live with this loss and pain many years later. How do we make sure something like this doesn’t happen again?
