I've been thinking a lot about the friends and families of Johnny Bayer and the other victims of Herbert Baumeister. It must be incredibly difficult to grapple with the loss and not have the chance to see justice served because Baumeister took his own life. I really can't imagine the frustration of not being able to see him held accountable in a court of law. This part of the story seems to make everything so much more painful for those grieving. It's heart-wrenching to know that their loved ones were taken away suddenly and so violently. True crime discussions often focus on the perpetrator, but I believe that we need to keep the memory of the victims alive and support the families who are left with so many unanswered questions. Does anyone know if there are any memorials or support groups dedicated to Johnny and the other men? It might help to share resources in case any family members or friends are looking for community and support. ?

I recently came across an old news article about Johnny Bayer, and it's baffling to me how someone could go unnoticed for so long in committing such atrocities. What's been replaying in my mind is the predatory nature of Herbert Baumeister, especially his tactics in luring young men to Fox Hollow Farm. It just shows the incredible importance of being aware of our surroundings and the trust we place in others, even in seemingly safe environments like bars or clubs. I can't even begin to imagine what Johnny's family went through when they learned what happened to him. A 20-year-old with his whole life ahead of him, cut short so brutally. The bravery of those who came forward back then to help authorities piece together the grim puzzle is commendable. Their courage certainly aided in uncovering the dark truth behind Baumeister’s facade, bringing some semblance of justice and awareness, even if it came too late for Johnny and others like him. Let's hope that sharing these stories helps put an end to such horrors in the future. My thoughts are with Johnny’s loved ones.

Does anyone have thoughts on how the local community in Westfield reacted after Johnny Bayer and the other victims' remains were found? I can't even begin to imagine the shock and disbelief that must have rippled through the town. It's such a tragedy when a place known for its close-knit community and small-town charm gets tainted by something so horrific. I wonder if there were any community gatherings or memorials at the time to honor Johnny and the other victims. It’s so important that these young men are remembered not just for how their lives ended but for who they were and the impact they had on those around them. If anyone has any insights or experiences they'd like to share, I'd really be interested in learning more about how the community came together during such a devastating time.

Hi everyone, I recently came across a photo that was purportedly taken at Fox Hollow Farm, and it sent chills down my spine. It got me thinking about the lives that were abruptly stolen there, particularly Johnny Bayer's. I can't begin to imagine the fear and betrayal he must have felt, being in the company of someone he thought he could trust. It's a stark reminder of how vulnerable young men like Johnny were during that time. Also, has anyone else noticed how little attention is given to the victims' personal stories? Beyond just being another name on the list, Johnny had a life, dreams, and people who loved him. I wish we had more insights into his personality or anecdotes that could celebrate who he was as an individual. Does anyone in this community have more information about Johnny or even memories they might be willing to share? Keeping his memory alive seems like the least we can do. My heart goes out to his family and friends as they continue to live with this loss. Stay safe out there.

It's hard to fully grasp the impact of Johnny Bayer's story without acknowledging the ripple effects on his family and those who cared about him. I was particularly moved when reading about how he was known as John Chadwick by some—almost like he had two worlds he was a part of but never got the chance to fully live in either. Despite the horror that engulfed his final moments, I often find myself wondering about the good times he might have shared with friends and family, and how they remember him today. It must be incredibly challenging for them, knowing that justice remains elusive with Baumeister's suicide. My heart goes out to everyone whose lives were upended by this. If anyone who's close to the case or knew Johnny personally feels like sharing more about him—about his life and not just his tragic end—I believe it would mean a lot to those of us following this case.
