I've been digging into the case of Deputy Sheriff William Will Griffith, and something that struck me is the lack of follow-up after his tragic death. It's baffling that given A.L. Allen's violent history and prior conviction, there wasn't a more vigorous investigation into Griffith's shooting. One would think that an officer of the law being killed in the line of duty would prompt a thorough inquiry. It's so upsetting to think that Griffith's family might not have seen justice served, and it raises a lot of questions about the era's law enforcement and judicial procedures. Was it just accepted as an occupational hazard for deputies back then, or was there more at play? Would love to hear what others think about this aspect.
