Has anyone else found it odd how Johnnie Harris was shot while standing near the saloon gate? It makes me wonder if someone had been plotting this from a distance. Given the location and timing, maybe the assailant was lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment. It’s such a shame that no witnesses were able to come forward, or maybe they were too frightened to do so at the time. It must have been incredibly difficult for his family, especially since they lived scattered around Texas and weren’t nearby to support each other. The fact that his grave's exact location is unknown adds another layer of sadness to it all. Here's hoping that someday, clarity can be brought to this century-old mystery.

I recently stumbled upon the case of Deputy Constable Johnnie Harris, and it's haunting how it has remained unsolved all these years. It really makes you ponder the challenges of solving crimes back in the early 1900s. Imagine the sheer frustration his family must have felt, not only coping with their loss but also knowing that whoever was responsible was never brought to justice. Harris showed immense bravery in disarming those men, and it's a shame that his dedication to duty ended so tragically. I can't help but wonder how different things might have turned out if this had happened today with modern investigative techniques. Does anyone else here think there could be more clues tucked away somewhere, or is this one destined to remain a mystery forever?
