Hi everyone,
I've been reading through some of the information shared about Constable John C. McBride Jr.'s tragic death, and I can’t stop thinking about how pivotal the role of local law enforcement was back then, especially in small communities like Round Rock. It seems like McBride was not just a constable, but a key figure who people relied on for safety and justice. It must have been incredibly distressing for the local residents to hear about his murder, especially on Christmas Eve, a time when communities usually come together.
It’s impressive (and somewhat relieving) to read about how the investigation led to the suspect being brought to justice. But I keep wondering about the impact this had on McBride's family—bearing the burden of grief during the holidays must have been indescribably hard.
Does anyone know if there were any efforts by the community back then to support his family? It would be comforting to think that his loved ones were not left to cope on their own.
