I came across some old newspaper articles while researching the tragic case of Charles F. Stevens. It's chilling to think how dangerous it was for law enforcement officers at the time. The articles describe the intense atmosphere surrounding Prohibition and how agents like Stevens were constantly at risk. It’s clear that Charles was committed to his duty, and his ultimate sacrifice paints a vivid picture of the intense challenges faced by officers battling illegal alcohol trade back then. I can only imagine the grief of his family and friends, knowing the kind of danger he was in every day. Reading Lynn Stephens' arrest after being a fugitive for 20 years also brought mixed emotions. Justice finally being served must have brought some closure, but it doesn’t change the fact that Stevens lost his life way too early. It's important to remember the bravery of these officers and the impact they had on history, even in the face of unbelievable risks.
