Does anyone else find it incredibly remarkable how resilient David Gunby was throughout his life? It's devastating to think about how a single tragic event on that awful day in 1966 could cast such a long shadow over a person's life. Even after being dealt such a cruel hand with his injury and health complications, Gunby managed to earn his degree and create a life for himself. It really speaks to his strength and determination. His decision to stop dialysis after suffering for so many years must have been incredibly tough for both him and his family. I admire them for supporting his choice, acknowledging everything he'd fought through. The medical examiner ruling his death a homicide all those years later is such a stark reminder of the deep, lingering impact violent events can have—not just physically but emotionally, too. I can't help but feel for all the families still carrying the weight of that day.
